Clatworthy Fly Fishing Club

The Clatworthy Fly Fishing Club mission statement is ‘to promote fly fishing to people of all ages and abilities’. It’s ethos is to have fun. The club has an open, all-inclusive membership policy and welcomes local and visiting anglers. Members are from all walks of life, age and (fishing) ability from the counties of Somerset, Devon, Dorset and further afield.

Clatworthy Fly Fishing Club Membership and Events

Club members can attend a wide range of fun social events and friendly fly fishing competitions. The club hosts events at Clatworthy reservoir and other venues throughout the year.

There are masterclasses for those who would like to learn more about the art of fly tying. For novice fly fishers who want to brush up on techniques we have casting tuition led by expert fly fishers.

Club members run a ‘buddy scheme’ where an experienced angler partners a beginner for a couple of hours. This can help them get on the right track, to improve casting, fly selection and fishing techniques. Boat fishing requires a different mindset and approach. We can advise on tactics and, equally important, boat craft skills and safety.

Mmmm, tasty!

Clatworthy Fly Fishing Club

Not all of the club events and activities are fly fishing related. The ‘Clatworthy Cook Off’ is a much anticipated event involving live demonstrations on hot and cold smoking techniques, how to turn your catch into delicious curries, paté and other dishes. As well as trout there’s tasty meat treats from the BBQs to enjoy too.

Online Forum

The online forum is exclusively for club members and is a popular and growing resource for all things fly fishing. With lots of forum categories covering a wide range of topics there’s plenty of discussion threads to contribute to or browse. Another feature of the forum is the classified adverts section. This is where you can (for no fee) buy, swap or sell pretty much any item as well as fishing tackle.
