Simple, Delicious Tasting Smoked Trout Pate

This smoked trout pate recipe is a real winner! It's easy to make with just a few ingredients needed. It's a delicious tasting fish pate perfect to serve as a starter or just for snacking on. This will serve 6.

Cold smoked trout pate ingredients

One fillet of cold smoked Trout
250 g Cream Cheese
Lemon juice (add to taste)
1 tbsp Fresh Dill, finely chopped (no stalks)
1 tbsp Creamed Horseradish
Seasoning to taste

Prepare your ingredients, you'll need 1 cold-smoked trout fillet, slice it wafer thin, then chop into small pieces.

Add the cream cheese, chopped dill, horseradish (use a quality brand, cheap ones are too vinegary) and smoked trout into a bowl and gently mix together until all ingredients are nicely combined together. Add the lemon juice, use 1/2 lemon to begin with, then add a little more if necessary.

Season to taste with a little salt and a grind or two of black pepper (you can omit this is you don't want/like a hint of pepper).

When you are satisfied with the taste simply spoon the mix into little ramekins (or a bowl) and refrigerate for an hour or two. Add a little sprig of fresh dill on top and serve with a variety of crackers (or if you like, Melba toast). Enjoy!
